I Am No More

Story time

bedabug:

I was 9 when the first X-Men movie came out. I went into the theater TRULY believing it’d be just like the comics because I was a kid and didn’t understand how Hollywood worked. I nearly cried in anger while I sat in there. I went home and was so angry I pulled out my favorite crayon (periwinkle) and wrote an angry letter to Fox Studios (and then forced my mom to look up the address and send it).

I can’t remember what I wrote exactly but I do remember mentioning how Logan was an X-Man long before Rogue came to the school and that Bobby shouldn’t be a student and that Kitty should have already been a full team member if Rogue was just joining.

So anyone who was working at Fox in 2000 and read a really angry letter written in crayon, I’m not sorry. You should’ve made the movie accurate.

Reblogging this from myself so people who weren’t on when I posted can appreciate it (well actually specifically so Casey can).

“I just want every child in America to own a coffee thermos bong and then maybe someone can dress up as Marty for Halloween.”

I love this movie.

I’m going to lay some movie company knowledge on you

As most of you probably know Fox is coming out with a new X-Men movie, X-Men: First Class.

Now the previews look good but here’s the problem, so much of it is completely inaccurate that most X-Men comic book fans are upset or irritated, even though all the X-Men movies so far have been pretty inaccurate.

Fox has even pretty much said outright that they’re not concerned with being accurate, and there’s the problem. Fox doesn’t care about the comic book fans, they just care about getting in on this huge superhero blockbuster movie trend that’s going on and making Disney/Marvel all this money. There is little thought going into making it a good film, they’re just focused on making a film they can sell.

That’s why Fox will never make a superhero movie as successful as the Avengers series is doing currently. Disney/Marvel found a perfect balance of the two, they are pushing for just enough accuracy that it makes the comic fans happy and just enough theatrical tricks to impress and suck in the average movie audience.

Fox never has been good at that, most of the movies they make are just movies that sell well and anything they do in the scifi/fantasy area turns out poorly.

Now I’m well aware that Hollywood is just in the business of making money, however to make a truly successful movie you need to think about more than that.

I am the excite.

This is like watching my childhood memories go by. The Pixar films were such and important part of my childhood.

Celebrating 25 years of Pixar.
