the fact that Warbird and Doop is happening amuses me so much

Same. It’s kinda the best. But I do not want to know what they do with the broken glass and battery acid they said they used.

they’ll probably cop out and sell back Ghost Rider or something

True but Disney is more likely to open their wallet for Spider-Man then they are for Ghost Rider. This, if it happens at all, will be obnoxious dealings with lots of lawyers but we might get lucky with the outcome.

It really depends on how badly Sony is actually hurting.

I literally crossed my fingers the moment I saw the article title. [which is here btw. Sony is hurting financially, whether or not they resort to selling off assets remains to be seen.]

I’ve never admitted this for fear of a mob forming but I’ve never seen a single Miyazaki film.

I know a few people who haven’t actually. I suggest Castle In The Sky or Howl’s Moving Castle since those are, in my opinion, his best. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is also incredible, as is Princess Mononoke. Kiki’s Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro are good but are much more focused on being for kids then the others.

I’d imagine you’d really like Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind though.

the moral of the story is hollywood is the dumbest. and that now nothing is unfilmable.

True facts. The fact that a movie like Cloud Atlas was even made is incredible, the fact that it works and is an amazingly good film is practically unimaginable and it really happened. Wachowski siblings continue to make film teachers everywhere cry from discovering how wrong they were.

didn’t almost everyone think that the book was unfilmable? (and tbh I can see why a bunch of conservative film board dudes wouldn’t want to risk investing in the film)

I thought the book unfilmable. So yes. But people being unwilling to back the movie even after that all star cast signed on is mind boggling to me. Also not backing it for production and refusing to distribute it after the film is made are two very different things and it’s the lack of distribution that is causing the delay for the UK release.

because the UK release date is december

That’s because literally no UK distributor would take the film. Warner Bros only agreed to distribute the film in the US. The Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer are distributing it themselves. They also paid for nearly the entire movie themselves. Their interview on the Nerdist podcast shocked me with how much movie companies did not want this movie made.

it doesn’t even feel like Die Hard. the trailer looks like a generic straight to DVD b-movie action flick. it just happens to be called Die Hard.

This. It looks so bad.
